Prepare to embark on a nutritious journey with our new Tora Collective Fresh Fish Market. We're excited to bring the freshest and sustainably harvested seafood from our wild shores to the Wairarapa community. As a locals, we understand the challenges of accessing fresh, quality and local seafood, so we're here to change that.

Our commitment to sustainability is unwavering, and that extends to our new Fresh Fish Market. Here's what you can expect:

All our fish will come whole and fresh from the moana, gilled and gutted, meaning that you can make the most out of your catch. We’ll be harvesting blue cod, kahawai, tarakihi, crayfish, pāua and kina, with more species to be added to the list!

As always, what we have on the day will depend on the season of each species and what Tangaroa is willing to provide. We won’t be taking pre-orders for the catch, first in, first served!

We're all about minimising waste and keeping it old school, do your part in keeping things green by bringing a chiller bag or bin for your fish!

SPECIES AND FISHING METHODS.

BLUE COD - RĀWARU

Harvested using our handcrafted cod pots, ensuring any bi-catch can be returned to the moana alive. Live blue cod are swiftly and humanely killed using the traditional Japanese technique, Ike Jime. Blue cod shines when pan-fried, battered, and much more.

KAHAWAI

Our line-caught Kahawai also undergoes Ike Jime. It's perfect for smoking, as ceviche, or savouring it in a traditional ika mata dish.

CRAYFISH - KŌURA

Our Tora crays are pot-caught and available whole, live. Enjoy them barbecued with garlic and butter, boiled, or transformed into pasta perfection.

PĀUA

Caught by free-diving, our wild pāua comes fresh and whole. It's a star in pāua patties, wontons, dumplings, or pan-fried slicked with garlic and butter!

KINA

Gathered free diving with a snorkel, our kina are at their creamiest from October to December, perfect fresh and raw!
