Discover Our Oceanic Dream.
kia ora.
We’re Troy and Claire, co-owners and fishers of Tora Collective. We have to admit, we’re pretty lucky Kiwis growing up in coastal Aotearoa.
We started Tora Collective, with the dream of keeping kaimoana in Aotearoa. We were fed up with New Zealand’s best seafood being shipped offshore to be enjoyed in other hemispheres. We wanted to ensure Kiwis and visitors alike, could experience the unique delicacies of our shores. And while we can’t invite you all to the next family BBQ, we can supply kaimoana (seafood) just as we had it - fresh as, and coming straight from the ocean.
something’s fishy.
With a long family history of fishing on the South Wairarapa coast, we knew the best quality seafood coming out of our waters wasn't actually destined for Aotearoa. Our Crayfish were shipped overseas, leaving only the rejected, and damaged for us. Our native blackfoot Pāua was bleached and canned, sitting on shelves in other hemispheres. With Kina being served in plastic pottles.
We could see this impacting our nation’s cuisine identity, with the absence of quality, fresh and sustainable seafood on menus and plates across the country. So we decided to do something about it.
coast to plate.
Combining our industry knowledge, skills, and passion for the cause, we launched Tora Collective, with the purpose of supplying Aotearoa with the absolute freshest and most sustainable kaimoana. By sustainably harvesting to order seasonally, and sending it to you straight from the nutrient-rich salt waters of Tora overnight.
The result? Truly fresh, sustainable kaimoana enjoyed by Kiwis, and on menus across the country - while leading the charge in sustainable fishing!
