WELCOME TO THE TORA COAST

Where the rugged and windswept coastline brings you Aotearoa's saltiest kaimoana.

Wild kaimoana, harvested to order from the Tora Coast and delivered overnight.

Welcome to Tora Collective, your source for sustainably caught kaimoana straight from the nutrient-rich waters of Tora, on the South Wairarapa Coast of New Zealand. We pride ourselves on catching to order seasonally, ensuring that your seafood is as fresh and sustainable as it gets.

We believe in respecting the rhythms of the ocean by only catching what is needed and respecting the breeding periods of the fish we harvest. That’s right, your catch & delivery depends on Tangaroa’s mood.

We guarantee the saltiest kaimoana in Aotearoa — coming straight from the ocean and with you live and kicking the very next day. You can’t get any fresher, unless you're catching it yourself.

Experience the true taste of the Aotearoa’s wild kaimoana with Tora Collective.

A message from our captains

Kia ora! We're Troy and Claire, the proud owners and fishers of Tora Collective, navigating our way towards sustainability in our own backyard by working with the ocean to provide you with the freshest catch. Tora is a hidden gem, tucked away in an untouched corner of New Zealand, where we embark on wild free dives and set sail on our waka, Takitimu, to catch your seafood bounty. From the moment it's harvested from the sea till it arrives at your doorstep, we handle every aspect with care and dedication.

Our mission is clear: to bring you the freshest seafood while preserving the natural beauty of our backyard for generations to come.

Our Catch

We don't keep our kaimoana on ice, in a fridge or a tank, waiting for someone to buy it. Instead, we catch your seafood only when you place an order, ensuring you get the freshest possible catch.

Once it's harvested, we ship it straight to your door, it’s with you the very next day.

Crayfish (NZ Lobster)

Eating Crayfish is kinda like being a kid again with no need for a pesky knife and fork. Butter it up baby.

Pāua (Abalone)

You can’t get more Kiwi than fresh-as Pāua fritters with a zest of lemon and dash of salt.

Kina (Sea Urchin)

A local Kiwi delicacy, our prized sea urchin. Enjoy straight out of the shell, or smashed on sourdough, it's a treat for your taste buds either way.

OUR MISSION

Keep Kaimoana In Aotearoa

Why we fish the way we do

We don't hold kaimoana in tanks waiting for someone to buy it. We catch to order, so what arrives with you is directly from the ocean, not a holding pen.

That same thinking runs through everything we do out here. Female crayfish go straight back, no exceptions. Our pāua size limits sit above what the law asks for. And we fish seasonally, by choice, not because any rule makes us. It's not common practice, but we think a business built on wild kaimoana only lasts as long as the kaimoana does.

This isn't a marketing angle for us, it's kaitiakitanga in practice, looking after what we take from so there's still plenty left for the ones who come after us. Even our packaging is part of that thinking, made to break down, not sit in landfill or end up in the ocean.

PROTECTING OUR BACKYARD

Awhea Coastal Trust

At Tora Collective, our commitment extends beyond delivering the freshest seafood. We are also deeply invested in safeguarding our stunning coastal environment in Tora through the Awhea Coastal Trust. Founded by Troy and Claire, the trust champions the conservation and restoration of Tora's natural beauty and cultural heritage, so it can be enjoyed for generations to come.

Don’t just take our word for it.
