What to do with your packaging

So you’ve received your Tora Collective order and have devoured the contents with lots of garlic and butter.

But now, the real adventure begins – what to do with all that fantastic packaging?

We're here to guide you on a eco-friendly journey to ensure you and Mother Nature stay on good side. Here's the lowdown on what to do with each piece of your Tora Collective packaging:

ICE PACKS

ICE PACKS Our ice packs are no ordinary ice packs – they're filled with fresh saltwater straight from Tora! They're made from plant-based bio-plastic that's not only compostable but also regenerative. Here's how to handle them:

1. Wash bag in warm soapy water and dry.

2. Cut the bag into strips and place in a warm home compost.

3. Cover or lightly turn compost.

WOOL

Our biodegradable wool is a superstar – it makes fantastic weed matting! The liner that holds the wool is recyclable.

SEAWEED

The lush seaweed that keeps your fish comfy isn't just natural; it's also a garden superhero! Here's how to give it a second life:

  1. For a quick fix, toss it straight onto your garden.

  2. For maximum plant power, place it in a bucket and fill with water. Use the mineral-rich, brown-colored water as a super juice for your veggies and plants.

  3. Once the seaweed has broken down more, mix it into your garden for an extra boost of goodness.

BOX

Our Eco-Tape is made from eucalyptus wood pulp to create cellulose natural film. Don't let that awesome box go to waste:

  1. Reuse it for storage or another purpose.

  2. If you can't find another use, recycle it.

SHELLS

We can't forget about the natural packaging that some of our seafood comes in! Here's what to do with those:

  • Crush crayfish and kina shells and toss them into the compost or feed to your chickens for extra strong eggs.

  • Pāua shells make great trowels for planting veges, or use to make Christmas decorations for your tree!
